Obará is a research duo Suelen Calonga + Kamai Freire.

This video discusses art as a tool for forging artificial national identities. It presents a counter-narrative for the Modern Art Week of 1922 (Semana de 22), which was crucial to the formation of Brazil’s persistent, colonialist cultural identity. The video is the result of an artistics research - tandem of artist + university-based researcher for the Collaborative Research Center Affective Societies. Affect and Colonialism Web Lab. Freie Universität + Humboldt Universität.
